5 Month -Pierced Ears

I should apologize a smiggin' in advance. Let's face it. I don't think there is a whole lot on this blog other than stuff about my daughter. Kid's really do take over your life once you have them. So, on behalf of people who don't have them,  Oy! It can't be on behalf of now that I have one. Sorry. Anyhow, if you don't have children yet, LOVE your life. There are some things in your life that are exclusively yours and I do hope you enjoy it. You get to have 'alone' time with your spouse (Yes, I'm talking about those spicy moments.) without the fear of your child waking up and dousing the moment. You also can run into the gas station real quick for a soda, juice, or other such randomness. hmmm...You only have to stress about your schedule. Babies can be both sporadic and predictable.
Anyhow, again NOTE: Love your life. It may not always be the way it is now and you might miss it.

I also accept that I may have some haters on this topic. If so,...well, this is what I decided to do. My daughter is happy, I'm happy, and she looks adorable. =P (Yes, I realize that's a juvenile response.)

I decided to get my daughter's ears pierced when she was old enough or a couple of months later. It's something I thought about even before she was born. My sister pierced her daughter's ears and her daughter ingested $150 worth of earrings before the age of 2. She tried the lock backs, screw backs, pretty much all the options. (She thought they looked SO cute on her daughter.) I guess it just wasn't meant to be. After that she let them grow in and will let her daughter decide when she's ready. My other sister pierced her daughter's ears withoug issue. (Yes, Kelli, the first sister, went with both of us to get them pierced.)
Kelli bore the brunt of all the...emotions up front though. My dad wasn't very happy about her piercing Ella's ears. My mom was okay with it. Let's face it, everyone seems to have their own opinions and ideas on the topic. I figure you pick the one that works for you.

There is one thing I DO tell people about the experience though. Yes, she cried, but she was done crying by the time I had her buckled back in her carseat. Unlike the toddler who was still crying after she got her ears pierced. She was still crying as her parents carried her away.

Oh, and the cost surprised me. Baby earrings are not cheap.
(Note: Ingested $150 worth equates to about 3 pairs of earrings.)

Random day with a Tigger onesie.
Kelli holding her right before. Yeah, she was being a goof.
And yes, I made Kelli hold her. I also make Fielding hold her for shots.

Bam! Pierced ears. Something tiny classic and matches every outfit.
It's also a nice indicator when people call her a boy. Yes, it happended twice the day before I pierced her ears and occassionally since.

See no harm no foul.

Still a happy camper.

She doesn't even notice they're there.

First time dad fed her babyfood. It's a learning curve.
Babies lunge at food if it's too close. (ie the container)
They also will look at...everything else that might distract them.

This outfit is supposed to be for 12 months. I think they may have been confused.

I LOVE this picture. She just looks so adorable and you can almost see her teeth.

Proof that she's not Always smiling. I think she wanted food.

Oh look. I must have done something that made her smile.

Aunt Kelli and several other family memebers (not me) had a waxing party.
So I figured Serenity should get in the spirit too. We used the 'Remove Completely' sticker on the wipes.

Sometimes it takes a while to wake up and recognize people.

Ah, to sleep with such abandon.

Hanging out with Aunt Vicki and Annie

Annie walking with Serenity.

The joys of feeding a baby. Take two.
I don't know that dad was very successful.
